This Broadhurst home is a playful, contemporary interpretation of the American Shingle vernacular. For MMBI and the many local artisans that contributed their art and spirit to the project, this home was a labor of love. The home features site hand-split and re-sawn cedar shingle on the roof and exterior walls, handmade tiles, custom designed and site manufactured light fixtures, custom on-site casework, trompe l'oeil paintings, and custom made knives for the millwork. The home's position on the site maximizes the natural light, and overhangs were designed to shade in the summer while letting more light in during the winter.
